Temporary Conditions

UPDATE  as of March 5th 2026

I have recovered pretty well from the heart attack.  However the closure of  the shoe shop 3 blocks away from me has overwhelmed my shop with work. Because of this I have had to reduce my hours to 2 days a week. (Monday and Friday) All of my repair time is being spent at the counter with customers bringing in new jobs.  I am unable to get anything repaired with my doors open. Nothing repaired means nothing in the register. My hands only go so fast and there is no such thing as help in this business. I tried an apprentice a month ago and quickly realized that the training was going to make my situation far worse than it already is. The learning curve is way too long.  I would love more than anything to go back to 5 days a week like I've done for the last 39 years, but that would literally send me back to UAB's ER with these conditions.

NEW HOURS ARE:

Monday -10:30am to 5:30pm

Tuesday - Closed

Wednesday - Closed

Thursday - Closed

Friday -10:30am to 5:30pm

Saturday - Closed

What happened:

Monday Oct. 27th 2025 at 5:30am I (owner operator) Louis had a massive heart attack. 100% blockage in the widow maker and a 90% blockage found in another artery. God answered my prayer during this event and I am still alive!  My heart function has been reduced to 50% though and I have to take it very easy until I am well enough to start running the shop like I used to do.  Hopefully soon!

I am sorry for the delay in the current repairs.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.  Lou
